Demo Update v1.4.2 – The Swamp, The Witch, Hardware RNG, and Seasonal Leaderboards
Demo build v1.4.2 is now live. This is one of our largest patches to date—alongside a long list of bug fixes, it introduces a brand-new region, overhauls how randomness works under the hood, and connects the game to our new web statistics and ranking systems. Into the Swamp & Meeting the Witch The biggest addition in this update is the new Swamp biome, complete with its own roster of enemies. We’ve also reworked how map paths are generated: spawn weights are now tied to specific levels rather than just the biome itself. This allows us to guarantee that you'll meet our newest NPC, the Witch, right on Level 1. She can upgrade your card buffs, buy gear at pawn rates, sacrifice items for health, coat your weapons in poison, or read a prophecy to reveal the map ahead. Following internal testing, we’ve also ironed out all of her interactions—fixing the gold deduction on map reveals and correcting her poison enchantment so it properly deals +1 damage over 3 turns instead of displaying a flat +3. Biomes now have a much stronger identity overall. Item pools for the Tavern Keeper and Blacksmith, as well as the Stranger's victory rewards, are now directly tied to the region you're exploring. Mystery nodes also pull from biome-specific pools, introducing a new "Corpse" encounter in the Swamp where you have to choose whether to move on, rob the body, or give it a burial. Combat Tweaks, Gear & The Blacksmith Fights are getting deadlier thanks to three new combat traits for mobs and bosses: Thief (steals gold or a token on hit), Venomous (applies poison after dealing damage), and Force Draw (forces you to draw a random card when attacked). To help you counter these threats, equipment can now roll with Poison Resistance and Armor Piercing, the latter allowing your strikes to bypass armor entirely and hit enemy HP directly. We’ve also added throwable Ice and Fire potions that act as single-use versions of card skills whenever you need them. Visiting the Blacksmith is much more rewarding now, too. Upgrading a piece of gear automatically restores its current durability to full and increases its maximum durability by +20 per level. If you just need a quick fix, NPC repair panels now feature a slider so you can pick the exact amount of durability you want to pay for, and a new UI warning will give you a heads-up whenever your equipped gear is about to break. Hardware RNG, Custom Seeds & Leaderboards Under the hood, we’ve completely replaced standard pseudo-random number generation (PRNG) with true Hardware RNG. Loot drops, card draws, and dice rolls are now 100% hardware-driven. Meanwhile, map layouts and shop inventories are now fully seeded to keep world generation consistent within a run. If you want to practice a specific layout or share a run with friends, you can now play using Custom Seeds. Custom-seed runs won't count toward leaderboards, streaks, or seasons, but they will still show up in your personal stats. Speaking of competition, this update officially introduces seasonal and event rankings alongside an advanced statistics system on our website. We've also added a "My Account" button inside the game so you can jump straight to your profile management page. Bug Fixes & Quality of Life Finally, we've knocked out several annoying bugs. Most importantly, we fixed a critical softlock that happened after losing a match to the Stranger. We also resolved an issue preventing stacks of 3 or more coins from being sold to the Blacksmith, fixed card upgrades on Aces, repaired the card freeze effect, fixed volume settings not saving properly, and cleaned up several UI layouts. If you run into any issues while playing, you can now send reports straight to us using the new built-in bug reporter panel. Jump into the demo, test out the new biome, and let us know what you think in the feedback channel!
